Global Transitions Academy gearing up for 2019 track and field season opener.

Global Transitions Academy will be competing this Sunday, January 13th at the BWSP 10th Annual Track & Field series hosted by Technique TC at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.

The amount of local track and field competitions are limited meaning the best of the Hampton Roads youth track and field athletes will be in attendance along with clubs from North Carolina, Richmond and Northern Virginia.

Of these athletes, "G.T. Academy" has a few ready to blaze the track. Sheyenne Nichols, 2018 AAU Region 5 100mh, 200mh, and Long Jump champion, will be leading the Academy this year. Nichols looks to improves last year's indoor season where she earned All-American honors in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump.

Making his debut in the hurdles, Donte Dent Jr., is moving up to the 11-12 age division with no worries. When asked how he feels about his new event, his response was, "I got it."

Kileah Hardy and Shinyce Haskins will be competing in the 13-14 age group this year, which means they can participate in 4 events whereas the 11-12 division can only participate in 3 events. From the looks of training, they do not seem to be worried about competing with older athletes.

Returning to the 11-12 division, Jordan Mitchell wrapped up 2018 with some stellar performances in the 100-meter dash and long jump. Christian Kearney was on the same mission leaving 2018 Russell Blunt Invitational with plenty of hardware and personal bests.

We are excited to kick off the new year with our team and track and field family. Good luck and safe travels to all competitors this weekend!
